End of April Already?

Wow what a quick month! It has been awesome getting into this class and working with these little kiddos!

In Language arts were practicing fact writing! As a shared reading activity we read informational text about triceratops. In partners the students completed a triceratops fact sheet, recalling 3 facts they had read about triceratops.

Triceratops Facts!

Comparing Yarn length
Using the actual dimension of a T-Rex foot we measured in's length and width using blocks, glue sticks, jumbo playing cards and shoes! Then we took it to the halls to measure the distance of a T-Rex's stride! It worked out to exactly 4 kids! After each student picked their most shocking measurement and took home a "Did You Know?" strips.

Then we practiced our math vocabulary by comparing some teddies and yarn according to Height(who's taller or shorter?), Length( who's longer or shorter?) and Width(who's wider or narrow?)
Ordering Teddies!

In centers we explored measuring our friends, our names, our feet and some creepy crawlies!

We are continuing to work on measurement this week and will start discussing measuring weight next week!

In Social we have started sharing some of our grandparent stories! It is so neat to hear about everyone's different family background. We will continue to accept grandparents stories until we have everyone share!

In Science our bean plants are really coming along! We have finished up our bean observation and will continue to let our beans grow!  Some of the beans have really sprouted and we are all pretty good at knowing what a plant needs to survive and how seeds grow. We also did a hunt around the school to find what could come from plants! We put items from plants into 3 categories: Things we Eat, Things we Wear, Things we Use. The students completed a little craftivity to show their knowledge!

Next week is Education Week and we have lots of in class activities coming up! Monday it Drum Fit, Hats On for Mental Health Wednesday and Zumba on Thursday.

Enjoy your weekend!!
