Education Week!

This week is Education Week! We had a few guests come in to show us some fun ways to keep fit!
On Monday Drum Fit was in for our gym class! Everyone got their own exercise ball and drumsticks and moved their bodies and drummed to the beat.

On Thursday we participated in Zumba class! These kids LOVED it! Everyone was moving and grooving to some quick beat and did an awesome job participating. Thanks to our awesome instructor Jennifer Micku!

Our first guest reader in library!
EJH was our guest reader in library this week! She read a book to the entire class! Great job EJH! A new student will be selected to read to the class every library!

In Math this week we have been talking about Measuring Weight and the language we use. We thought about which items in our class, school, outside and home are heavy and light. As a group we checked out various items that were big, small, heavy and light. We looked at objects that may be the same thing (paper plates and ceramic plates) and discussed their weight and what makes their weight different (materials!).

In centers they had the chance to use the scaled to weigh objects you can find in the classroom with cubes. As well as Mystery Bags Comparisons! Each bag was filled with unknown objects and the students compared them against each other to find the heaviest and the lightest out of the 4 bags.

In Social we finished up sharing our grandparent stories! Thank you for sending those in! There was lots of different stories from Grandpas, Grandmas and Aunts! To see how our community has changed over time we compared images of Leduc in the early 1900's to now. Wow! Our community has changed! Ask you child what they saw in 1900 that we don't have anymore, or what amazing changes have happened! There are even some things that have stayed the same!

In Science we are finishing up our Plants unit by creating a non-fiction book about plants! Each student is creating their own page and we will bind the pages and create a book for them to read from in our reading corner.

Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!
